Kilpeck church is compelling and absolute, as are other local churches with their painted walls and Romanesque carvings, each a repository of form and ideas worth pursuing.
The poems and images included in Knotworks reflect on many visits to Kilpeck and other sites, Eardisley, Cwmyoy, Peterchurch, Patricio and elsewhere, where similar wonders are to found; there is even a mention of Chinese temple guardians, whose crazed wisdom the carvers of the Herefordshire school would have readily recognised.
