I have more basically and less fleetly substituted a word-count for the syllabics and forgot the second line was intended to be at least one syllable shorter, so my pattern is a line of 10 words followed by two of seven. One poem goes for a fourth line. Some of the contributory material is filtered through translations provided by Francesco Benozzi in his excellent <em>Landscape Perception in Early Celtic Literature<\/em> (2004).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Engladings (Englynion)\u00a0 [extract]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">1<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Never a settled stance at enhancing unless the hills petition:<br \/>\nafter preaching sedentary green to the island<br \/>\ngreener thirst of any chance-pliant plant<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">2<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Tree to a lunge is how an element switches ground,<br \/>\nswatches (of lean-to) have been to<br \/>\nthe conicals of its swaddling the rebound<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">3<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Soils, why so green-come, took colours off steep winter?<br \/>\nLong haunches, time grows a petulant green<br \/>\nover pale yewtrees, a transform hunch-steady<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">4<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Discrete horizons press on concrete continua, not thrown over, just<br \/>\nan unspilt at being so given over,<br \/>\nocean feathering the off-flutter of land<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">5<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Brave tackle very rod, shapely bidden, well-hidden in shrift:<br \/>\nspindle and juniper chariots of natural act,<br \/>\nhow prayer is upcast pith and arm<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">6<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Tempo as topology glides tuitions or advisory entrussments <em>onto<\/em> space,<br \/>\nreckoning the durational undertow of middle things,<br \/>\nhow an unremoved bough creates new attributes<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">7<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Does present a towards of the sampled, examples para-representative:<br \/>\nforwarding assent is tall secondary miracle,<br \/>\nperforated stare of leaf agency simple adjacency<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">8<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Landscape its whole crescent slice of beseech, one beech each:<br \/>\nor at times by a token oak,<br \/>\nits rarest foil so nearly above holly<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">9<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Tree-grapple any assault is accustomed to bring: despite place<br \/>\nwish that some cording fleck its tag,<br \/>\nscarce then but not serried in arrears<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">10<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Lets conceal what resigns bare to the chest of seed,<br \/>\nthe stewarding will foster many muffled alerts,<br \/>\nin proportions of shallows where it dabbles<\/p>\n<p carrier not gone upon expedition<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">12<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Remission at the nape of branch, defray contention: hazel adjudges<br \/>\nit suspensive (new attentions) of the conflict,<br \/>\ndispense bracken and broom from general turnout<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">13<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Notables of the stood, common tree (accessioning) oils the bowl,<br \/>\nsmooths a final sprawl of woodland shafts,<br \/>\nretire spike and enrol ancient horny trees<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">14<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Compressive braces in tree-cutting, ivied hazel the only hospital,<br \/>\natones in immature commotion, as evasive undergrowth<br \/>\nwill sound immune ringing of parted forest<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">15<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Freest of all counter-slippages from removal, penalty of lopping<br \/>\nis these targeted limbs, larger reversionary adhesions<br \/>\nscarce as every risen distraught series was<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">16<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ripe fruit safeguards bushes, whose palisade is juice converting raid.<br \/>\nAlder ahead of lime, piecing its firsts,<br \/>\nivy pure respite in seeking an appearance<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">17<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Tree toward passage inclines every cancelled sheath of its return:<br \/>\none drift in midst (sift) of leaves,<br \/>\nsurges and dormancies, for purges and normalcies<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">18<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Operative stasis not oasis but full standing at relational take:<br \/>\nhere settled (adjacently whittled) as believe periderm<br \/>\nreceives it, pouch of tree announce implication<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">19<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Linkage heeds branched texture, foliage fetched, a rift in a<br \/>\nrib in raft of receiving, low-pressure<br \/>\nemphatics, at local crook its own unsawn<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">20<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Pilot of the shaded decoy, limbed from hill to hill,<br \/>\nalong the stoppages (spiral strappage brief mending)<br \/>\nof a wood which ridges bail out<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">21<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Green waves freshly cut (float) where a flood is due,<br \/>\ndiving then the scan of imbued horizons,<br \/>\nprompts a coast for shore of oak<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">22<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Woods a without of effort, woods a within of effect,<br \/>\nthat safe core rinds before it climbs,<br \/>\ncavities of thicket hollow in field density<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">23<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Congealed branching wounds in one, thorns those are my palms:<br \/>\nover-stretching woods congregate green-teamed, as<br \/>\nmuch abroad as any grievance of shelter<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">24<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Diagonal hands rear a branch-time\u2019s durational escapement, locally collapses<br \/>\ninfolds cut from the delay of it,<br \/>\nwhat outswing curtails for a covered slope<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">25<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Less post-reductive originals but a scarcer conduct of gift,<br \/>\nevery common rarity each such sponsored horizon,<br \/>\nprayer in slender
