fey<\/em> is a collection which combines wayward translation and poetic essay to explore (and resist) representations of the female body in some of the various iterations, in Arthurian texts and more broadly, of the figure of Morgan le Fay.<\/p>\n

fey (adj.)<\/p>\n

from Old English<\/em> f\u00e6ge meaning \u201cdoomed to die, fated, destined,\u201d and \u201ctimid, feeble,\u201d or from Old Norse<\/em> feigr, both from Proto-Germanic<\/em> faigjo, from the Proto-Indo-European<\/em> peig meaning \u201cevil-minded, hostile.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n

1. Fated to die, doomed to death, at the point of death, dying.<\/p>\n

2. Leading to death, deadly, fatal.<\/p>\n

3. Accursed, unfortunate, unlucky.<\/p>\n

4. Feeble, timid, sickly, weak.<\/p>\n

5. Disordered in mind, like one who is about to die.<\/p>\n

6. Possessing magical, fairy-like, mysterious or unearthly qualities.<\/p>\n

7. Affected, whimsical, over-refined, exaggerated.<\/p>\n

8. Having supernatural powers of clairvoyance or vision.<\/p>\n

9. Appearing crazy, as if under a spell.<\/p>\n

10. Effeminate.<\/p>\n

Eleanor Perry\u2019s publications include the pamphlets Meat Volt Interruption (Oystercatcher, 2015); and Venusberg (Veer Books, 2015). Recent work has also appeared in Blackbox Manifold and The Wolf. She has performed work at the Science Museum, Canterbury Roman Museum, the Sussex and Surrey poetry festivals, Xing the Line, Hi Zero, and the Cardiff Poetry Experiment, while her visual work has been exhibited at The Tactic Gallery in Cork.
